Under direct supervision, the Industrial Hygiene Specialist I is responsible for implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety and occupational health and performs basic and routine duties in a wide range of industrial hygiene disciplines to achieve compliance with the ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements; serves as a resource for line management to administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures; assists in monitoring and controlling hazards that could be present in the work area; works with others to investigate accidents, injuries and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; participates in recommending improvement in processes, design, procedures and equipment to minimize hazards; participates in employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs. This position may require shift work to support plant operations. This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC
