About The Position

Atlanta Gear Works is looking for an experienced Industrial Gearbox Mechanic to join their skilled team in Dawsonville, GA. This is a contract precision maintenance jobshop that services and repairs both large and small process critical gearboxes for a variety of industries. The schedule is on 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 7am-3:45pm, with overtime opportunities. The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of prior industrial gearbox assembly experience and availability to travel occasionally.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of three years experience in this role.
• Must have experience with correctly using high precision measuring instruments (such as verniers, indicators, calipers, micrometers OD & ID, depth gauge, etc.) in lengths of a thousandth.
• Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
• Must undergo pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

• Technical school is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assemble various types of gearboxes of all sizes and weights.
• Mount bearings.
• Mount gears on shafts.
• Read and interpret assembly drawings.
• Make calculations to properly set bearings and gear contact patterns.
• Test and ensure accuracy of parts.
• Travel to various customer sites for inspections, repairs and installs.
