The Industrial Firefighter position requires skills and abilities in combating and extinguishing fires, performing rescues, providing emergency medical services (EMS) as assigned, conducting fire/safety inspections and education, apparatus driving and operational actions, participation in training programs as well as station, vehicle and equipment checks/maintenance. The role involves responding to a variety of emergency and non-emergency service requests, including structural fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, spills or releases, forcible entries, alarm investigations, rescue and salvage operations, extrication, confined space rescue, water rescue, and high-angle rope rescue. The position also includes attending department training programs, performing assigned shift activities such as equipment and apparatus checks, safety inspections, and completing necessary reporting. A thorough knowledge of the service area is required, and availability for recall is expected. The role may also involve assisting with public education, public relations, and promoting a positive safety culture, as well as keeping work areas, equipment, and apparatus clean and orderly. Participation in emergency preparedness planning and providing recommendations for department improvements are also part of the duties. Responding to EMS medical calls as assigned is also a responsibility.
