About The Position

AssetGuard Products, Inc. manufactures and installs high-performance polyurea-based coatings and lining systems designed to protect assets, infrastructure, and the environment. With more than 20 years of experience in the design and application of polyurea coatings and linings, AssetGuard serves commercial, municipal, industrial, oil and gas, mining, agricultural, and other critical-infrastructure markets. We proudly make our products in America. We are seeking an experienced Industrial Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for spray-applied polyurea and related protective coating projects. Our work spans water infrastructure, irrigation canals, tanks and structures, building waterproofing, and commercial roofing. You will own the estimating process from bid review through site assessment, takeoff, pricing, and proposal, and you will work closely with operations to make sure what we sell is what we can deliver profitably.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
  • 5+ years of estimating experience in industrial, construction, or coatings work, with at least 3 years specific to polyurea or other spray-applied coating or lining systems.
  • Hands-on background as a coating’s applicator, foreman, or project manager.
  • Experience with water, wastewater, or irrigation infrastructure, including Bureau of Reclamation or municipal projects.
  • Certifications such as AMPP Coating Inspector, ASPE, CPE AACE, CEP, CCT OSHA.
  • Familiarity with drone or laser measurement tools for site documentation.
  • Experience estimating concrete or steel substrate preparation and coating on infrastructure, roofing, or waterproofing projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas and cost modeling) and digital takeoff or estimate software such as Bluebeam, Revu, PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating or ProEst. Experience with other platforms is welcome, and we will train on our internal tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Autodesk Viewer/Takeoff
  • Strong math, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel [10-25%], including occasional overnight trips. Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to meet site safety requirements (OSHA 10/30, confined space, and fall protection training, or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Review bid packages, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to determine project requirements and risks.
  • Travel to project sites to take physical measurements, assess substrate condition, document existing damage, and identify access, dewatering, staging, and environmental constraints.
  • Perform area-based quantity takeoffs and convert them to material requirements based on specified film thickness, substrate profile, and expected material loss.
  • Estimate surface preparation (abrasive blasting, shotblasting, water jetting, crack and spall repair, priming), which is often the largest cost variable.
  • Develop labor, equipment, and crew costs using production rates by substrate and geometry (flat surfaces, vertical walls, roof details, tanks).
  • Obtain and compare pricing from manufacturers, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Account for mobilization, scaffolding or lifts, confined space entry, traffic control, weather windows, and outage-window constraints.
  • Verify compliance with project requirements such as NSF/ANSI 61, agency or municipal specs, AMPP and ICRI surface-prep standards, and roofing warranty and code requirements.
  • Include QA/QC costs: adhesion testing, mil thickness verification, holiday testing, and documentation.
  • Prepare bid proposals, scope clarifications, exclusions, and value-engineering alternatives.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, client discussions, and post-award handoff to project management.
  • Track actual job costs against estimates and refine production rates, cost databases, and estimating templates.
