Industrial Engineering Technician (FL&PO)

Club Car• Evans, GA, US, GA

About The Position

As an Industrial Engineering Technician specializing in Factory Layout and Process Optimization, you will create, update, and maintain spatial and procedural blueprints of production floors using AutoCAD. You will transform facility data into precise, optimized layouts that influence the safety, efficiency, and speed of production. The role bridges initial equipment concepts, new product prototyping, and full-scale factory execution.

Requirements

  • An associate degree in Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical Drafting, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or a related technical field, or 5+ years of equivalent layout design experience.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on drafting or technician experience focused on facility, plant, or workstation layouts in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor for custom equipment, fixture, or tooling design.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) cycles, piloting lines, and managing rapid layout iterations.
  • Experience in high-volume assembly environments, such as automotive or heavy machinery manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for calculating floor capacity, analyzing cycle times, and tracking key performance indicators.
  • Advanced, fluent proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong working knowledge of standard mechanical drafting principles and geometric dimensioning.
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts, including workspace optimization, standard work, and line balancing.
  • Ability to visualize complex 3D physical systems and translate them into structured 2D architectural or mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed plant layouts for new manufacturing processes, equipment installations, and assembly lines using AutoCAD.
  • Audit and clean up legacy CAD files to ensure factory master facility drawings are accurate, standardized, and up to date.
  • Conceptualize and design custom tooling, racks, and mechanical equipment layouts to support production ergonomics and line-side efficiency.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to establish baseline labor standards, identify bottlenecks, and balance production lines.
  • Analyze and map material flow paths to reduce waste and transit times and streamline movement through the facility.
  • Partner with design teams on prototype builds and validate that new product architectures integrate into existing or planned factory footprints.
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Work overtime as necessary.
