About The Position

Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc, a world-class manufacturer of industrial lift trucks, has an outstanding opportunity for an exceptional and talented Industrial Engineer I-III based at our Berea, KY manufacturing plant. This role supports the design, setup, and improvement of material-handling systems, maintains and updates material-flow data, and analyzes material movement to identify bottlenecks and improve flow. The Industrial Engineer will collaborate with various teams to provide recommendations and support improvement initiatives, assist with planning and scheduling systems, and support the implementation and improvement of material-flow related software, hardware, and equipment. They will also develop project plans, track progress, and communicate updates to drive successful project execution. Level II additions include leading smaller-scale implementations, while Level III additions involve leading major material-flow improvement initiatives and aligning them with broader operational strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Up to 2 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial engineering (Level I).
  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial engineering (Level II).
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or industrial engineering (Level III).
  • 2-3 years of experience in material‑flow or internal‑logistics processes preferred (Level II).
  • 3-5 years of experience with advanced material‑flow strategies such as kitting, supermarket design, or milk‑run systems (Level III).
  • Knowledge of discrete manufacturing processes and material‑handling systems.
  • Ability to design, analyze, and optimize material‑flow layouts and logistics methods.
  • Familiarity with lean principles and continuous‑improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to simplify complex process issues.
  • Experience developing innovative solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Strong project‑management skills and experience leading cross‑functional efforts.
  • Ability to support teams through process changes and new‑system adoption.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with material‑flow or material‑handling concepts preferred (Level I).

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, setup, and improvement of material‑handling systems such as supermarkets, kitting areas, and milk‑run routes.
  • Maintain and update material‑flow data, including bill of materials, engineering changes, and new product or process introductions.
  • Analyze material movement to identify bottlenecks, improve flow, and enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Monitor impacts of manufacturing or process changes and adjust material‑flow strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with production, supply chain, engineering, and other teams to provide recommendations and support improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with planning and scheduling systems to reduce queue times and support just‑in‑time delivery.
  • Support implementation and improvement of software, hardware, and equipment used for material‑flow activities.
  • Develop project plans, track progress, communicate updates, and help drive successful project execution.
  • Lead smaller‑scale implementations of supermarket design and milk‑run processes (Level II Additions).
  • Lead major material‑flow improvement initiatives and drive alignment with broader operational strategies (Level III Additions).
