About The Position

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in the evening Industrial Electrical (INE) Technology program. This role requires a minimum 37.5-hour workweek, with specific hours from Monday to Thursday (1:30 pm - 9:00 pm) and Friday (8:00 am - 3:30 pm). The faculty member is responsible to the Vice President of Instruction and Accreditation for the development, implementation, evaluation, modification, and operation of the INE program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in the building construction field (electrical and plumbing), preferably within the last five (5) years.
  • Evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
  • Willingness to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
  • Computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adults.
  • High degree of knowledge in basic safety, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, plumbing, pressure systems, drain, waste and vent, electrical and plumbing rough-in and finish.
  • Bending, sitting, and squatting in order to demonstrate skills on EPT equipment.
  • Communicating for extended periods while lecturing.
  • Sitting at a computer for extended periods to enter data.
  • Lifting 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary Skilled Trades credential from an accredited institution.
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students.
  • Strong hands-on technical background in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adults and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field.
  • Monitoring, grading, and evaluating individual student progress.
  • Maintaining student records in the college’s student records management software.
  • Maintaining appropriate documentation and submitting timely reports.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of new students and placement of graduates.
  • Working with other INE program day instructors to coordinate both day and evening programs to ensure curriculum continuity.
  • Maintaining good public relations with business and industry.
  • Maintaining an active advisory committee and cooperating with outside agencies.
  • Supervising and following up on students participating in cooperative education.
