About The Position

Piper Electric, a Crete United Company, is seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Estimator to support its continued growth into industrial, manufacturing, plant, and facility-based electrical work. For over 40 years, Piper Electric has established a strong reputation in the Denver metro area by investing in its employees, delivering quality electrical solutions, and fostering lasting customer relationships. As the company expands its industrial capabilities, it is looking for an estimator who understands the complexities of active facilities and can produce accurate, competitive estimates for new installations, expansions, upgrades, and retrofit projects.

Requirements

  • At least six years of experience in the electrical industry.
  • At least three years of electrical estimating experience.
  • Proficiency with Accubid required.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, labor productivity, and material requirements.
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and applicable local building codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex plans, specifications, single-line diagrams, and project documents.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience estimating industrial, plant, manufacturing, or large facility projects strongly preferred.
  • Electrical field experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed electrical estimates for industrial plants, manufacturing environments, processing facilities, and other complex commercial facilities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and scope documents to identify project requirements, risks, and opportunities.
  • Perform complete quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and rental pricing.
  • Estimate projects involving power distribution, equipment installations, controls, lighting, facility upgrades, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Develop conceptual budgets and design-assist pricing when complete construction documents are not available.
  • Coordinate with account managers, operations leaders, vendors, and subcontractors to develop project strategies.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, value-engineering opportunities, and potential project risks.
  • Prepare professional proposals, pricing summaries, alternates, and value-engineering presentations.
  • Participate in estimate reviews, proposal presentations, and project turnover meetings.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, historical pricing, and bid results.
  • Track labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost trends.
  • Stay current on industrial electrical systems, products, installation methods, codes, and market pricing.
