About The Position

Our client is an innovative company specializing in the design, manufacturing, and installation of custom layout solutions for the commercial, hospitality, and retail sectors. The Industrial Designer will be responsible for research, planning, and concept development, in addition to preparing client presentations and supporting prototype development. The person will help transform client needs into concrete, manufacturable solutions aligned with cost, material, timeline, and production constraints.

Requirements

  • Training in industrial design or a related field (DEP or DEC).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar position, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks and intermediate knowledge of the Adobe Creative suite.
  • Good understanding of design, manufacturing, and installation processes.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Creativity, a strong sense of innovation, and the ability to develop concrete and manufacturable solutions.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Autonomy, proactivity, and ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Team spirit, sound judgment, and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to present and defend concepts clearly and convincingly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing furniture, layouts, or custom wood and/or metal products is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze needs, constraints, and available information in order to plan deliverables and design stages.
  • Develop creative, functional, and manufacturing-ready concepts, taking into account materials, finishes, costs, and project objectives.
  • Prepare the 3D models, 2D drawings, renderings, sketches, presentations, and technical documents required for design, estimating, and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to validate concepts, select appropriate solutions, and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Coordinate prototype development, from initial design through validation, while monitoring timelines, materials, and modifications.
  • Propose design improvements or alternative solutions to optimize costs, materials, and manufacturing methods without compromising project objectives.
  • Coordinate with engineering and production teams, resolve technical issues, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain structured project documentation, track risks, changes, and impacts on costs and timelines, and contribute to the continuous improvement of design practices.
