Xylem is seeking an Industrial Controls Field Service Technician to support customers across the U.S. and Canada through the installation, startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of advanced municipal water treatment systems. This is a hands-on field service opportunity for a technician with experience in industrial controls, PLCs, electrical and mechanical systems, instrumentation, pumps, or commissioning. Experience in municipal water and wastewater is highly valued, but candidates with strong transferable experience in industrial, manufacturing, automation, controls, or electrical environments are encouraged to apply. You may be a strong fit for this opportunity if you have experience as a: PLC Technician Controls Technician Industrial Controls Technician Commissioning Technician Startup Technician Industrial Controls Field Service Technician Electrical Field Service Technician Industrial Electrician Automation Technician Instrumentation & Controls Technician Pump Technician Pump & Controls Technician Water/Wastewater Controls Technician Field Service Technician Experience with the following is highly valued: PLC troubleshooting Industrial controls Control panel wiring and diagnostics Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) SCADA systems Startup and commissioning Electrical troubleshooting Pumps and pumping systems Water and wastewater equipment Customer-site field service support What Your Day Will Look Like as an Industrial Controls Field Service Technician As an Industrial Controls Field Service Technician, you’ll travel to customer sites to support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of municipal water treatment equipment and systems. This role works with a variety of advanced mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems and requires a strong technical background, customer-focused communication, and the ability to work independently in the field. You’ll collaborate closely with customers, project teams, and internal support groups to help deliver safe and successful project outcomes. A typical work week includes travel on Monday and Friday, with field service work performed Tuesday through Thursday at customer locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Requirements

Experience servicing and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and industrial control systems in industrial, manufacturing, or municipal environments
Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, VFDs, control panels, and industrial automation
Experience with low- and medium-voltage power distribution equipment, VFDs, conduit, grounding, and three-phase electrical systems
Experience with electrical troubleshooting, control panel wiring, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis
Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, network troubleshooting, and control systems
Ability to read and interpret Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system layouts
Experience with instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, and temperature sensors
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport for travel within the U.S. and Canada
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work around operating industrial equipment as needed

Nice To Haves

Experience in municipal water and wastewater
Experience with pumps, pumping systems, instrumentation, or water/wastewater equipment
Experience with ServiceMax is a plus

Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites to support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of municipal water treatment equipment and systems.
Work with a variety of advanced mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
Collaborate closely with customers, project teams, and internal support groups to help deliver safe and successful project outcomes.
Conduct customer training sessions and communicate technical information clearly.
Perform equipment startup, commissioning, functional testing, and preventative maintenance.
