About The Position

FORJAK Industrial is seeking an Industrial Coater for its Blast Plant Division. This role involves applying industrial protective coating systems to blasted metal components with precision and consistency, maintaining quality standards, and working safely in a demanding industrial environment. The company emphasizes an ownership mindset and a team-first attitude, as it is an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in industrial coating application or surface preparation OR a strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn; FORJAK will train the right candidate.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and consistency in every coat applied.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly, stand and walk for extended periods (consistently 4+ hours), and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions.
  • Ability to work for at least 3 consecutive hours without a break in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Good manual dexterity and multi-coordination for precise application in various positions and spaces.
  • Ability to work effectively in conditions including confined spaces, high noise levels, moderate to high heat, and multiple PPE requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A team-first attitude—ego doesn't build great things; people do.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with industrial coating systems, including epoxy, polyurethane, enamels, and other protective coatings.
  • Experience with airless spray, plural component, or brush/roller application methods.
  • Knowledge of DFT measurement tools and basic coating inspection practices.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Confined space entry training or certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal components for coating by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and applying appropriate primers to ensure proper adhesion of coating systems to the surface.
  • Apply a wide range of industrial coating systems, including paints, enamels, epoxies, and sealants using brush and roll methods and airless spray rigs to achieve the specified finish and protective properties for each project.
  • Mix and prepare coating materials according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements documented in OneSource, ensuring correct ratios, pot life, and application conditions are maintained throughout each shift.
  • Inspect surfaces prior to coating to confirm blast profile, cleanliness, and surface condition meet project specifications before application begins.
  • Verify coating quality throughout application by monitoring wet and dry film thickness, coverage, and finish consistency in accordance with project requirements.
  • Maintain and clean coating equipment, including spray guns, brushes, rollers, and other tools at the start and end of each shift to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Enforce strict PPE and ventilation compliance at all times this environment includes confined spaces, high noise levels, and moderate to high heat, and safety is non-negotiable on every shift.
  • Adhere to all company safety and work policies.
  • Remain flexible, taking on miscellaneous duties as assigned by leadership to support evolving organizational needs.
