About The Position

Owen Health Care Inc. is hiring a part-time Individual Support Worker to support children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Workers travel to clients’ homes and provide support in home and community settings, collaborating with behavioral therapists, families, and other professionals. The role focuses on implementing individualized service plans and behavioral interventions, maintaining a safe and supportive environment, and encouraging positive behavior and emotional and social growth through appropriate activities.

Requirements

A college degree and one year of experience, or a High School Diploma/GED and at least three years of supervised experience implementing positive behavior support plans and teaching ADL/Instrumental skills to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with children and their families.
Ability to work independently while following established protocols and guidelines.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting children and adolescents.
Prior experience in behavioral interventions.

Responsibilities

Assist behavioral therapists in creating behavioral therapy programs tailored to children and adolescents.
Implement individualized service plans.
Provide behavioral interventions in home and community settings.
Manage youth with behavioral challenges.
Develop and initiate safety standards and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
Instruct youth in positive behavioral practices.
Monitor and document observations of youth behavior and modify daily activities as needed to align with therapeutic goals.
Develop and implement recreational activities that support youth emotional and social growth.
Ensure youth have a clean and secure environment.
