Position Summary Spring Grove Recovery is seeking a compassionate and skilled Individual Addiction Counselor to provide individual counseling and therapeutic support to patients receiving residential substance use disorder treatment. The Individual Addiction Counselor will manage an assigned caseload, conduct individual counseling sessions, participate in treatment planning, coordinate with members of the multidisciplinary treatment team, and assist patients in preparing for successful discharge and continued recovery. The ideal candidate understands the complexities of substance use disorders and can build strong therapeutic relationships while maintaining appropriate professional and ethical boundaries.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field.
  • Current and active professional credential or license appropriate to the position and services provided.
  • Ability to maintain all required credentials throughout employment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to effectively use electronic health record systems.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of clinical behavioral health experience.
  • Previous experience working in substance use disorder or addiction treatment.
  • Experience providing individual counseling in a residential treatment environment.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based approaches to substance use disorder treatment.
  • Experience with treatment planning, discharge planning, and coordination of care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an assigned caseload of patients receiving residential substance use disorder treatment.
  • Conduct scheduled individual counseling sessions.
  • Assess patient needs and utilize appropriate therapeutic interventions and treatment modalities.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of individualized treatment plans.
  • Document counseling sessions, patient progress, treatment interventions, and other required clinical information accurately and timely.
  • Assist patients with discharge and aftercare planning, including coordination of appropriate community resources, sober living arrangements, and continuity-of-care services.
  • Assist with appropriate documentation related to FMLA, Short-Term Disability, or other treatment-related documentation within the scope of the position.
  • Participate in Treatment Team meetings and other interdisciplinary meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with clinical, medical, nursing, patient engagement, admissions, and other departments to support continuity of care.
  • Maintain effective professional relationships with external providers, community organizations, and referral resources.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, organizational policies, and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Follow all Spring Grove Recovery policies, procedures, clinical standards, and patient-safety requirements.
  • Complete required training and maintain all required professional credentials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinical Director.
