About The Position

The Summer Student will be working eighty (80) hours bi-weekly, within the Rural Operations (Anzac) Branch of the Public Works Department. These positions are within the CUPE 1505 Bargaining Unit. Under close supervision, the Summer Student Labourer, will perform manual labour duties involved in the maintenance of a variety of municipal buildings and grounds in the Anzac region. Tasks include, but are not limited to, cleaning and maintaining all assigned areas and facilities, operating a variety of small equipment and hand/power tools of a limited-skill nature, and performing other general labourer duties.

  • Must be able to listen attentively and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform manual labour for extended periods of time and in all weather conditions
  • A positive attitude towards work and safety
  • General math, numeracy, and reading skills
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Candidates must be enrolled in full-time post-secondary studies for the Fall 2026 semester to be eligible for this position
  • Indigenous student residing within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset
