About The Position

The TRACKS Program, funded by the Government of Alberta and delivered by Enserva, GrizzlyTrek, and Opimoyaso Group, is designed to help Indigenous workers step into and sustain long-term careers as Class 1 or Class 3 operators in Alberta's energy sector. This paid internship offers on-the-job training and comprehensive support, including a mentor, supervisor, and a dedicated coordinator to assist with various needs. The program provides a clear path to a permanent role with competitive compensation, with operator roles in the sector commonly paying around $85,000 per year. Placements begin Summer 2026, with limited spots available.

Requirements

  • Open to Indigenous applicants across Alberta.
  • Willingness to show up, learn, and grow on the job.
  • Desire for a long-term career operating equipment in the energy sector.
  • Class 1 or Class 3 licence is an asset, but not required to begin.
  • Entry-level experience is welcome; on-the-job training is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Hydrovac trucks for safe excavation using high-pressure water and vacuum.
  • Perform bulk hauling and transport of fluids, water, sand, and equipment to and from sites.
  • Operate vacuum and water trucks on and around active energy sector sites.
  • Run and support equipment on active well sites for fracturing (frac) operations.
  • Participate in service rig crews for well servicing and maintenance.
  • Engage in additional operator roles across the energy services sector as opportunities arise.
