INDIGENOUS LIBERAL STUDIES (ILS) ADJUNCT FACULTY

About The Position

IAIA is seeking an accomplished scholar who has an academic background in Native American anthropology or sociology and has taught courses which incorporate indigenous perspectives. This faculty position will aid in enhancing the professional growth of current courses in IAIA’s ILS program, an integral and exciting part of the Institute’s degree programs and curriculum.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Recent and relevant experience teaching Indigenous and Native American Studies experience at the college level.
  • Demonstrated record in high level of professional achievement.
  • Proven background in anthropology, social sciences, and research methodologies.
  • Experience with American Indian and Alaska Native communities and cultures required.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate degree.
  • College level teaching experience, both at the introductory level as well as the upper level.
  • Experience teaching at least 4 courses per semester.
  • Experience advising students, supervising senior projects, serving on faculty councils and faculty committees.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching ILS courses, which explore the historical context, criticism, theory and methodologies of Native American issues from an anthropological and sociological perspective.
  • Developing and expanding the existing ILS course offerings.
  • Maintaining regular office hours, and participating ILS department activities
