Reporting to the Forest Area Manager, this position supports engagement with Indigenous communities and contributes to the delivery of Forest Area programs, including forest management, wildfire prevention, wildfire operations, community wildfire mitigation, and other forestry initiatives. The role supports communication, information sharing, awareness, and opportunities for participation in Forest Area programs and services. This role helps promote awareness of forestry, wildfire prevention, wildfire operations, community wildfire mitigation, training, and employment opportunities while supporting the delivery of Forest Area programs. Requirements

  • University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
  • Two years of diploma in related field plus 6 years progressively responsible related experience
  • Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education or equivalent as described below
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience engaging with Indigenous communities, organizations, or leadership groups.
  • Knowledge of forestry, wildfire prevention, wildfire operations, community wildfire mitigation, or natural resource management programs.
  • Experience supporting community engagement, outreach, public education, or awareness initiatives.
  • Experience working within an Incident Management Team (IMT) or supporting emergency response, incident management, or public information functions.
  • Knowledge of employment, training, contracting, or workforce development opportunities.
  • Experience working independently and building effective working relationships in remote or rural communities.

Responsibilities

  • Support engagement and communication with Indigenous communities throughout the Forest Area.
  • Promote awareness and education related to forestry, wildfire prevention, wildfire operations, land stewardship, and community wildfire mitigation.
  • Participate in community meetings, events, outreach, and training activities.
  • Support information sharing between Indigenous communities and Forest Area staff regarding programs, initiatives, and opportunities.
  • Identify and promote training, employment, contracting, and business development opportunities related to forestry and wildfire programs.
  • Support community awareness of wildfire operations and community wildfire mitigation initiatives.
  • Provide support to Forest Operations and Wildfire Operations programs.
