About The Position

The Common Law Section is seeking an Indigenous Academic Tutor for the Academic Year 2026-2027. This position is part of the CUPE 2626 collective agreement and is intended to support students in the JD program. The tutor will provide academic assistance, focusing on understanding the barriers faced by Indigenous learners. This role requires excellent communication and legal writing skills, technological aptitude for teaching, and the ability to work independently and creatively. The position is for the full academic year, with a total of 160 work hours.

Requirements

  • GPA of 6.5 or higher.
  • Currently enrolled in the JD program or have recently completed the JD program.
  • Must have completed Constitutional Law II.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in legal writing.
  • Prior tutoring experience.
  • Aptitude using technology for teaching purposes.
  • Ability to take initiative, and to work independently and creatively.
  • Flexibility and adaptability around new teaching/learning conditions.
  • A demonstrated understanding with respect to the barriers faced by Indigenous learners and communities.
