About The Position
Project Genesis, Inc. is seeking Independent Living Skills Trainers to join its Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) team serving the Plainfield, Connecticut area. The role involves working one-on-one with individuals to help them rebuild life skills, gain confidence, and live more independently in their communities. Trainers provide non-medical care, supervision, and socialization according to each client’s personalized service plan. The organization describes itself as a mission-driven nonprofit and offers training, feedback, and development opportunities. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available, with first- and second-shift schedules. Starting pay is $21 per hour.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Have verifiable acquired brain injury (ABI) experience: 2 years with a high school diploma or equivalent, or 1 year with a bachelor’s degree.
- Have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and a good driving record.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required).
Responsibilities
- Support individuals in developing independent living skills, including daily routines, budgeting, cooking, and communication.
- Provide non-medical care, supervision, and socialization based on each client’s personalized service plan.
- Encourage and guide clients and recognize their progress.
- Provide a positive, steady presence as clients build more fulfilling and independent lives.
