About The Position

A Knock At Midnight is seeking consultants from qualified Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firms to conduct an independent financial audit of the organization's financial statements and provide recommendations regarding internal controls, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable regulations. A Knock At Midnight, NFP (AKAM) is a non-for-profit, 501© (3) community- based organization established in September of 2003, located on the south side of Chicago, Illiniois. AKAM primarily focuses on providing direct services in the communities of Auburn Gresham, Englewood, West Englewood, and West Chatham. However, our services are also extended throughout the city and surrounding surburban areas.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
• Minimum of five years' experience auditing nonprofit organizations.
• Demonstrate expertise with 501(c)(3) accounting and reporting requirements.
• Experience with grant-funded organizations and Uniform Guidance compliance, if applicable.
• Maintain current professional liability insurance.
• Successfully completed a peer review within the last three years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct annual Financial Audits.
• Review Internal Controls.
• Review Compliance Procedures.
• Present audit findings to management and the Board of Directors or Finance Committee.
• Provide a management letter outlining recommendations and observations.
• Be available to answer questions from management and board members.
