About The Position

This position requires thorough knowledge of the Food and Nutrition program, considerable knowledge of agency and community programs, and general knowledge of all income maintenance programs. The role involves training new and experienced caseworkers, monitoring application and recertification processes, leading labs, and filling in for absent caseworkers. Strong computer skills, data entry, and NC FAST knowledge are essential. The position also requires the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively within a team environment.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the Food and Nutrition program.
  • Considerable knowledge of all agency and community programs and services, which could affect the client/applicant.
  • General knowledge of all income maintenance programs.
  • Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of regulations, policies and procedures of varying complexity.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
  • Ability to instruct and evaluate the work of lower level employees.
  • Ability to train employees in new and existing rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants.
  • Ability to perform caseworker function under and within structured time frames.
  • Good computer skills, data entry and NC FAST knowledge are essential to complete tasks.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, good organizational skills, and communication skills.
  • Graduation from high school and a minimum of two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Training new and experienced Income Maintenance Caseworkers in policies and procedures relevant to the Food and Nutritional Services program.
  • Conducting training on appropriate interviewing skills, customer service, policy, and NC FAST.
  • Monitoring application and recertification pending lists to ensure timeliness is met.
  • Leading learning and processing labs.
  • Filling in for absent caseworkers by completing ongoing casework or application functions as determined necessary by the supervisor.
  • Directing and assigning applications and intake to workers when needed.
  • Providing feedback to the supervisor regarding the skill and competence of staff.
  • May provide training to other units or the public as needed.
