Person County Department of Social Services is recruiting for an Income Maintenance Caseworker I to join the Department of Social Services. This position serves as a vital member of the Clerical Unit, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support to ensure the efficient delivery of public assistance programs. The Income Maintenance Caseworker I is responsible for serving as the first point of contact for clients seeking assistance with a variety of social services programs. Duties include greeting clients in person and by telephone, assessing their needs, and directing them to the appropriate staff member or program. This position plays an essential role in creating a positive customer experience by providing accurate information, responding to inquiries, and assisting clients with navigating available services.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
  • Must be able to provide proof of your eligibility to work in the US within 3 days of the start of your employment with the County.
