Requirements

  • Experience working with school-aged children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences.
  • Experience in strengths-based, neuroaffirming learning environments and/or a demonstrated eagerness and ability to quickly adapt to this type of environment.
  • Experience using structured, systematic, and explicit instructional approaches.
  • Experience teaching literacy concepts using a structured literacy/Science of Reading approach.
  • Experience teaching math focused on building conceptual understanding.
  • Experience supporting executive functioning, sensory processing, or social-emotional learning.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with or without the use of assistive technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Demonstrated commitment to our charitable mission.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed.
  • Ability to provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one instruction live online.
  • Create and maintain a learning environment that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and enjoyable for all learners.
  • Identify learner strengths and challenges through informal and formal assessment.
  • Develop and implement year-long learning plans and daily lesson plans for assigned learners that are individualized, neuroaffirming, strength-based, evidence-based, technology-enhanced, and linked to measurable learning goals.
  • Provide formal and informal written progress reports, with or without the use of assistive technology.
