Learn. Develop. Succeed. is a growing education nonprofit supporting children, youth, and adults with learning and other brain-based differences. Instructors work one-to-one with school-aged (Kindergarten to grade 12) learners, delivering individualized and comprehensive learning support that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and evidence-based.

Requirements

  • Experience working with school-aged children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
  • Experience in strengths-based, neuroaffirming learning environments and/or a demonstrated eagerness and ability to quickly adapt to this type of environment
  • Experience using structured, systematic, and explicit instructional approaches
  • Experience teaching literacy concepts using a structured literacy/Science of Reading approach
  • Experience teaching math focused on building conceptual understanding
  • Experience supporting executive functioning, sensory processing, or social-emotional learning
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with or without the use of assistive technology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Demonstrated commitment to our charitable mission
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to provide a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening
  • Eligibility to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one instruction in our North Vancouver Learning Centre, both in-person and live online
  • Create and maintain a learning environment that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and enjoyable for all learners
  • Identify learner strengths and challenges through informal and formal assessment
  • Draw from multiple resources and curricula, develop and implement year-long learning plans and daily lesson plans for your assigned learners that are individualized, neuroaffirming, strength-based, evidence-based, technology-enhanced and linked to measurable learning goals
  • Provide formal and informal written progress reports, with or without the use of assistive technology
