About The Position

WinSport Summer Camps is seeking a confident, adaptable, and compassionate Inclusion Facilitator to support inclusive and safe camp experiences for youth with type 1 & 2 diabetes. This role helps participants to learn more about their health, and management strategies, and with opportunity to practice surrounded by knowledgeable mentors. The Inclusion Facilitator provides direct camper support and serves as a resource for instructors and families. Responsibilities include communicating with parents or guardians about camper needs, and gathering relevant information before and during camp. Above all, the Inclusion Facilitator helps foster an environment where all campers feel a sense of belonging, instructors feel supported, and families feel confident in the camp experience. Requirements

  • Current criminal record check with vulnerable sector search.
  • Current Standard (Intermediate) First Aid and CPR level C certification.
  • In-depth understanding of type 1 & 2 diabetes, including managing the disease, best practices, problem solving, and the stigmas/psycho-social challenges of T1D
  • Registered in or a graduate of a University or College program that focuses on education, health, child and youth studies, psychology or social work
  • Strong project- and risk-management skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and supervise/facilitate diabetes management tasks.
  • Strong organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multi-task with keen attention to detail, even under tight deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to program policies and procedures and escalate concerns through the appropriate leadership channels when required.
  • Take a lead role in the supervision, support, and management of campers living with Type 1 & 2 diabetes, ensuring safe and effective daily diabetes care in collaboration with the medical team.
  • Support campers and their families by reinforcing diabetes management education, encouraging independence, and promoting confidence in self-care skills.
  • Monitor and assist with blood glucose checks, carbohydrate counting, pump/CGM management, and required documentation in accordance with camp protocols.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, and other diabetes-related concerns following established emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with Counselors, Activity Leaders, and healthcare staff to ensure coordinated diabetes care throughout all camp activities.
  • Track and document behavioral incidents, near misses, safety concerns, and interventions clearly and objectively.
  • Escalate ongoing or significant safety concerns to leadership in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain professional, empathetic, and solution-focused communication with parents/guardians and caregivers.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with instructors, providing real-time coaching and feedback as needed.
  • Vary communication style to best fit the audience while ensuring clarity, consistency, and professionalism.
