IN Tandem Line B shift (6a-6p)

About The Position

The IN Tandem Line B position performs production work involving continuous copper-coil drawing and wire extrusion. The work includes drawing copper coil from a 3/8-inch diameter to a usable size and extruding wire to specified tolerances and finishes for further processing. The operator sets up and runs equipment according to job orders and product specifications, monitors product quality, and makes adjustments as needed. The role also includes material handling, equipment upkeep, teamwork, and participation in line-improvement and safety activities.

Requirements

Ability to work as a team supporting other operators to restore line operation after a breakout.

Responsibilities

Set up machines using job orders, dies, tooling, and lubricants.
Change dies and tooling as needed, point wire, and string the machine through dies, tooling, and take-up.
Set up the extruder in accordance with product requirements.
Set controls to regulate temperature, speed, and nylon thickness on wire.
Untangle snarls and repair wire breaks.
Gauge wire and add lubricants as needed to maintain tolerances.
Measure and examine extruded products for defects and specification compliance, adjusting controls as necessary.
Use precision instruments to perform quality testing.
Weld wire ends for continuous flow and grind them to a smooth finish.
Move finished wire from the spooler using powered lift trucks and copper-coil supply.
Maintain a clean work area and follow company and safety rules.
Perform preventive and minor equipment maintenance as required.
Support other operators in getting the line running again after a breakout.
Take ownership of line TPMs.
Update GEMBA boards as required.
Participate in Lean events and housekeeping and safety audits as needed.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
