About The Position

Kidcreate Academy is seeking a passionate and skilled In Studio Children's Art Instructor to inspire the next generation of artists. This part-time role focuses on teaching foundational art skills through a structured curriculum, helping young artists build confidence and master new techniques in a fun, encouraging environment. Unlike traditional classes, Kidcreate Academy emphasizes step-by-step instruction and skill progression. The position offers flexible scheduling, paid training, and all necessary materials, allowing instructors to focus on teaching and student development.

Requirements

• Strong foundational art skills and enjoys teaching those skills to children.
• Understands basic drawing, line, shape, form, shading, painting techniques, color theory, and composition.
• Can demonstrate techniques clearly and confidently.
• Knows how to break artistic concepts into manageable, age-appropriate lessons.
• Provides encouraging, constructive feedback that helps students grow.
• Has classroom management experience and is comfortable leading groups of children.
• Can teach technique and artistic progression—not just complete art projects.
• Can work independently while also being an outstanding team player.
• Thrives in a structured, fast-paced, and creative environment.
• Has excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Is patient, enthusiastic, dependable, and encouraging.
• Loves working with kids and believes creativity should be celebrated.
• Is comfortable standing throughout class and assisting students as needed.
• Is excited to help young artists develop confidence and lifelong artistic skills.
• Must submit either a PDF portfolio containing 5–10 original works, or a portfolio website demonstrating proficiency in drawing, painting, color theory, composition, and overall artistic ability.

Nice To Haves

• Degree or coursework in Art Education, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, or a related creative field.
• Certified PK–12 Art Teacher.
• Graduate student in Art Education, Education, Fine Arts, or Creative Arts Therapy.
• Experience as a private art instructor or tutor.
• Experience teaching in museums, community arts programs, after-school enrichment, or summer camps.
• Experience teaching mixed-age groups.
• Strong classroom management and group facilitation skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach structured, step-by-step lessons using the Kidcreate Academy curriculum.
• Demonstrate drawing, painting, color theory, composition, and other foundational art techniques.
• Help students build artistic skills progressively while encouraging creativity and self-expression.
• Break complex concepts into simple, teachable steps that children can understand and apply.
• Provide positive, constructive feedback that helps students improve while building confidence.
• Foster a welcoming classroom environment where every student feels encouraged to learn and grow.
• Manage classroom behavior while maintaining a fun, engaging learning experience.
• Prepare materials, set up the classroom, and clean up after each class.
• Communicate professionally with parents, students, and fellow team members.
• Represent Kidcreate Academy and Kidcreate Studio with professionalism, enthusiasm, and positivity.
