About The Position

This is a consulting role for an experienced leader who thrives in fast-paced, client-facing environments and can drive financial discipline, reporting accuracy, and develop scalable processes across portfolio companies. Blue Ops specializes in Office of the CFO value creation, including strategic FP&A advisory, operational finance, accounting and business analytics, partnering with private equity owned portfolio companies to deliver lasting impact. In this role you’ll be primarily an in-seat CFO and key financial leader, working directly with our clients and their senior leadership to enhance financial processes, provide critical analysis, and support business growth. Serve in senior leadership level interim roles for client base As the CFO, you will lead the client’s finance and accounting functions, shaping financial strategy while ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls and operational effectiveness. You will partner directly with client executive leadership to guide strategic planning, capital allocation and cash flow management, providing insights and financial leadership that drive value creation, informed decision-making and sustainable long-term growth.

Requirements

  • A technically strong and seasoned finance leader with deep GAAP knowledge and sound strategic and commercial judgment.
  • Skilled at leading financial strategy and improving finance and accounting operations in dynamic environments.
  • A clear, confident communicator who can advise executive leadership and partner effectively with internal teams, external partners, and private equity sponsors.
  • Process-oriented, with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution, leading teams, and owning key deliverables under tight timelines.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel on-site to clients as appropriate. Travel is estimated at 25–40%, depending on client needs.
  • Big 4 or public accounting experience strongly preferred, complemented by senior finance leadership experience. Corporate finance and accounting leadership backgrounds also considered.
  • 15+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience across public accounting, consulting, or industry roles, including significant leadership responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience leading finance and accounting functions, overseeing financial statements, and driving budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of cash flow management, capital allocation, internal controls, audits, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with familiarity with modern ERP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead clients’ finance and accounting functions, aligning financial strategy with business priorities and value creation initiatives.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including general ledger management, month-end and year-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reporting.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and standardized procedures.
  • Oversee cash management, treasury, working capital, and cash flow forecasting, guiding capital allocation and investment decisions.
  • Oversee annual audits and coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners, including lender reporting and covenant compliance.
  • Drive process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen financial accuracy, and reduce close cycles.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-term financial planning, and variance analysis in partnership with executive leadership and operations.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to improve business performance, manage risk, and support growth.
  • Mentor and develop finance and accounting teams, building a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a key financial partner to private equity sponsors and portfolio company leadership, communicating performance, priorities, and progress against value creation plans.
