About The Position

The Chief Financial Officer in Training (CFOT) program is a 1 to 3-year development initiative designed to cultivate future finance leaders within UHS Behavioral Health facilities. Participants will work closely with Finance Executives, gaining comprehensive training through on-the-job experience, classroom instruction, and experiential learning. The program aims to build essential business acumen, expertise in accounting and finance, and leadership skills necessary for success in a UHS Behavioral Health facility. The duration of the training is contingent on the individual's prior experience and performance. Upon successful completion, candidates will be placed in a Chief Financial Officer role and must be open to relocation, with relocation assistance provided. UHS operates nearly 300+ Behavioral Health Facilities nationwide.

Requirements

  • 1 year of related experience
  • Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance, master’s degree preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Proficient in standard accounting operating procedures and principles
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to relocate upon completion of the program (Relocation assistance provided by UHS)
  • 15% Travel

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including journal entries, balance sheets reconciliations, income statement analysis and explanations, financial and tax package completion, and financial reporting for assigned facilities.
  • Collaborate with Regional Director and facility operations leaders to develop, prepare, and analyze budgets and forecasts for assigned facilities, including presentations to senior management.
  • Actively participate in and complete CFOT-specific training curriculum (classroom, experiential, and online learning).
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement – including strategic financial direction and leadership.
  • Assist the Regional Financial Director in the review of month end close including analysis, research, and resolution of questions or concerns.
  • Participate in leadership training assignments including classroom, budget presentations, management coursework, etc.
  • Assist in the completion of internal and external audits including providing documentation and explanations as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned / required.
