About The Position

Braintrust Tutors is seeking dedicated educators for in-person tutoring roles in Reading and Math within Atlanta Public Schools (APS). This is a part-time contractor 1099 role with opportunities in the Fall and Spring semesters, typically involving school-day hours for 12-14 weeks, 3/4 days per week with 45-minute sessions. Tutors will work with elementary school students to strengthen their literacy and math skills using structured intervention programs and curriculum. The role emphasizes evidence-based instruction, personalized support, and collaboration with school staff. Tutors will be responsible for delivering consistent, high-impact tutoring, monitoring student progress, maintaining records, and fostering a supportive learning environment. While the priority is in-person engagements, online roles may be available to supplement schedules. Applications are considered on a rolling basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
  • Active/expired teaching license or at least 5 years of experience working with K-8 students in an educational environment (READING)
  • Experience with reading instruction that includes morphology-based word study, vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, and writing skills covering grammar, syntax, and multi-paragraph composition using a structured scope and sequence.
  • (MATH) Knowledge of math instruction that builds number sense, procedural fluency, and problem-solving skills, with a scope and sequence ranging from counting to multi-digit arithmetic, including decimals and fractions.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Comfort collaborating with teachers and staff
  • Punctuality, professionalism, and reliability for all scheduled sessions
  • Reliable transportation and/or appropriate technology for instruction
  • Passion for literacy and closing opportunity gaps
  • Must be available for the entire schedule (12-14 weeks)

Responsibilities

  • Provide small-group or 1:1 reading/math tutoring to students developing literacy skills
  • Implement Braintrust Tutors' intervention programs as designed, using all materials with fidelity
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and academic performance
  • Collaborate with the Braintrust Tutors Operations team and school staff to support student growth
  • Foster a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes focus and confidence
  • Follow school-site procedures and policies while maintaining a professional and dependable presence
  • Use the provided assessments and progress monitoring tools for understanding to guide instruction
  • Manage time effectively during sessions to complete all planned instructional activities
