About The Position

Visiting Angels of Columbia is hiring an In Home Personal Aide to serve senior adults and other home-care clients throughout the local area, including Batesburg Leesville, Lexington, Blythewood, Irmo, and Chapin. The aide helps clients remain or recover at home with dignity. Client visits vary, and the aide may provide personal care, household assistance, companionship, meal preparation, mobility support, and reminders to take prescribed medication. The aide must respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.
Compassion and a desire to provide meaningful companionship to vulnerable people.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Perform light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, attending medical appointments, and taking walks.
Act quickly in medical emergencies.
Report health changes or unusual circumstances.
