About The Position

Visiting Angels of Reading is hiring an In Home Personal Aide to support senior adults and other home-care clients throughout the local area. The role helps clients remain at home or recover at home with dignity through personal care, companionship, and practical support. Visits vary according to each client’s needs. Aides must be prepared to respond promptly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances. The position offers full-time and part-time scheduling, including 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts, PRN, and short shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience caring for seniors and/or disabled adults, professionally or personally.
Excellent time-management skills.
Reliable transportation to client visits.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response.
Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards.
Compassion and interest in providing meaningful companionship to vulnerable people.

Responsibilities

Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
Provide light housekeeping.
Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
Remind clients to take prescription medications at the appropriate times.
Help clients shop and put away groceries, or shop on their behalf.
Plan and prepare meals with clients according to their abilities.
Assist clients with mobility and ambulation, including moving around the home, visiting the doctor, and taking walks.
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
Report health changes and unusual circumstances.
