General Purpose: Responsible for providing operational expertise to enhance the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the department by establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships, liaising with operations, customers and carriers in order to ensure customer satisfaction and to deliver maximum advantage to the business. Also responsible for ensuring legal compliance within government rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Typically requires 5 years minimum import/export logistics /expediting industry experience.
  • Expert knowledge of logistics flows (both domestic and international).
  • Working knowledge of HTS and ECCN.
  • Excellent communication/presentation (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully interface with both internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups), a must.

  • Strong understanding of various supply chain disciplines preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of Import/Export regulations and Administration regulations.
  • Developing and maintaining policy and procedures to ensure Custom regulations compliance is adhered to.
  • Responsible for day-to-day activity of the personnel assigned to Import/Export activities.
  • Ensuring proper Import/Export documentation and procedures are maintained in accordance with Customs standards and requirements.
  • Advising company on Customs requirements and informing other departments of any issues that may arise affecting their operation.
  • Recommending corrective action required to ensure all Import/Export transactions adhere to Custom compliance.
  • Ensuring and preparing documentation required by Customs to import/export commodities.
  • Reviewing contracts for required clauses and identifying omissions.
  • Interfacing with internal and external customers, foreign order administration, freight forwarders, customs officers and other functional areas to ensure coordination and logistics of shipment.
  • Selecting carrier/forwarder for shipment of products and preparing documents for freight forwarders.
  • Maintaining accurate Import Compliance within the site for all inbound international shipments.
  • Implementing and maintaining record-keeping system to comply with U. S. Customs.
  • Performing regular audits as deemed mandatory by Corporate Flex with several departments to identify, disclose and work to fix any potential Import Compliance concerns.
  • Making entry adjustments with U.S. Customs when necessary.
  • Coding international freight invoices for inbound shipments, as well as domestic truck load shipments to departments within the site.
  • Researching short paid invoices and resolving any related issues.
  • Maintaining and updating inbound/outbound carrier routing guide for site per FLEX Corporate Logistics guidelines.
  • Distributing routing guide to Purchasing, Shipping and various other departments.
  • Notifying departments within the site of any non-compliant issues.
  • Filing claims with the carrier/insurance companies per the FLEX Corporate Logistics procedure for compensation of lost/damaged freight while in the care of the carrier.
  • Maintaining claims data and interacting with FLEX Corporate Logistics and insurance company/carrier to resolve claim issues/questions.
  • Communicating with Purchasing and Manufacturing departments for support in part clarification.
  • Interacting with Corporate Compliance to ensure Import/Export Compliance processes are up to date to meet US customs rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring US customs guidelines are followed by vendors, purchasing, broker, site logistics and other responsible parties.
  • Attending Import Compliance Seminars for updates on latest customs rules and regulations.
  • Classifying importing items with correct HTS.
  • Ensuring FDA, FCC, US Goods return forms and Fumigation Certificates are provided and on file for parts requiring this information.
  • Auditing import documents for international shipments cleared through US customs.
  • Notifying members of the site’s Compliance team that a discrepancy in the audit should be noted and driving escalation as appropriate to resolve issue.
  • Correcting of entry documents for entries identified.
  • Filing Import Documents.
  • Maintaining and updating part number database with most up to date HTS, COO and OGA information.
  • Maintaining COO database used to identify non-compliant vendors.
  • Providing international and domestic rate quotes per request by site management.
  • Preparing rate comparisons between carriers.
  • Tracking international shipments and tracking domestic shipments.
  • Providing POD’s for shipments.
  • Researching freight issues.
  • Auditing special need deliveries to identify issues and concerns.
  • Filing or assisting with filing of freight claims for international and domestic shipments.
  • Maintaining and updating carrier routing guide.
  • Training various site departments on usage of carrier routing guide.
  • Arranging expedited shipments by request to meet customer needs.
  • Coordinating international truck load shipments.
  • Auditing domestic and international inbound carrier freight invoices.
  • Addressing issues regarding freight invoices with carrier and payment company.
  • Identifying ways for freight and cost savings.
