Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) is seeking an Impact Litigation Legal Advocate to join their team in Los Angeles. AJSOCAL is a leading legal and civil rights organization dedicated to advocating for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). Founded in 1983, the organization provides legal assistance, engages in impact litigation, and advocates for policy changes, serving over 15,000 individuals and organizations annually. Their services are available to all, regardless of race or ethnicity. AJSOCAL focuses on supporting vulnerable AAPI communities and advancing civil rights and social justice for everyone. With offices in Los Angeles and Orange County, and a presence in Sacramento, they also collaborate with Advancing Justice affiliates nationwide. The organization offers comprehensive immigration services, citizenship workshops, and community-centered initiatives such as the Asian Language Legal Intake Project (ALLIP), the Survivor and Family Empowerment (SAFE) Project, the Housing Preservation (HP) Program, and the Health Access Project (HAP). Their Demographic Research Project (DRP) and Community Engagement (CE) teams utilize data-driven strategies and grassroots partnerships to enhance their impact. The Impact Litigation Team aims to create systemic change, while the Policy Team works on shaping laws and local practices affecting Asian American and immigrant families in California. The Legal Advocate will support the impact litigation team by assisting with client services, case support, and advocacy coordination, working under the supervision of the Director of Litigation. This role involves drafting legal documents, conducting research, and collaborating with litigators, clients, and contractors.
