About The Position

Alma is on a mission to make immigration better through cutting-edge technology and thoughtful legal support. Backed by several prominent investors, the team combines deep immigration law expertise with product and operations built for scale. The company is hiring an Immigration Attorney to manage a complex caseload of employment-based matters and deliver exceptional client outcomes. This role is not a back-office legal position; the attorney will serve as a trusted advisor to clients navigating significant life decisions, applying full legal judgment to every case. The attorney will collaborate closely with legal leadership, operations, and product teams, focusing on outstanding legal work while also helping to build scalable systems for that work. Alma aims to rebuild immigration from the ground up, rethinking how it should work to create a faster, smarter, more human experience for companies and individuals. The company seeks exceptional individuals who want to do career-defining work, possess high standards, move fast, think clearly, and deeply care about the quality and impact of their contributions. It's a team for builders who take ownership, use sound judgment, communicate directly, and are proactive in solving problems and improving systems in a fast-changing environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing employment-based immigration law
  • Licensed to practice law and hold a J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited institution
  • Deeply client-obsessed and believe exceptional legal work and exceptional client service are the same thing
  • Communicate proactively, take full ownership of your cases, and follow through reliably
  • Bring strong legal judgment and know how to navigate ambiguity — many cases fall into gray zones that require nuance and precision
  • Excited about AI-assisted legal workflows and see technology as a way to increase the quality and consistency of your work
  • Want to help build systems, not just operate within them

Responsibilities

  • Own your caseload
  • Manage a full range of employment-based immigration matters: EB-1A/B, EB-2 NIW, O-1A/B, H-1B, L-1, PERM, TN, E-2, and beyond
  • Serve as attorney of record and draft petitions that are persuasive, precise, and client-centered
  • Anticipate issues before they become problems — surface risk early, communicate proactively, and drive cases to resolution
  • Guide clients through complex and often uncertain processes with clarity, strategy, and care
  • Communicate with urgency and directness — clients should always know where they stand and what comes next
  • Own escalations on your cases from intake through resolution
  • Uphold and improve Alma’s legal standards across templates, processes, and workflows
  • Identify gaps in how we work and bring solutions — not just observations
  • Collaborate with product and operations to surface tooling needs and workflow improvements
  • Participate in new client consultations, assess eligibility, and recommend pathways with confidence

Benefits

  • Hyper-competitive base salary based on experience
  • 100% health coverage — medical, dental, vision
  • 20 days PTO + 10 federal holidays
  • $250/month wellness allowance
  • Direct access to legal leadership and a front-row seat to building an AI-native law firm from the ground up
