About The Position

Alma is seeking a creative and analytical immigration attorney to join their team. This role sits at the intersection of sales, strategy, and content, serving as the legal engine behind the company's sales process. The attorney will be responsible for assessing eligibility, advising on strategy, deciding on case intake, and productizing legal expertise to enable scalable work. The ideal candidate is passionate about employment-based immigration law, comfortable with AI tools, and eager to contribute to building a better legal system. Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience practicing employment-based immigration law.
  • Experience with a broad range of visa types including O-1A/B, EB-1A/B, H-1B, L-1, E-2, TN, and PERM.
  • Ability to quickly compare pathways and articulate a defensible strategy under time pressure.
  • Licensed to practice law and hold a J.D. or LL.M. from an accredited institution.
  • Comfortable using AI tools and curious about technology's role in scaling legal work.
  • Analytical and creative thinking skills, with the ability to identify patterns across multiple cases.
  • Skill in distilling complex legal concepts into clear writing and persuasive storytelling.
  • Enthusiasm for cross-functional collaboration with sales, content, product, and operations teams.
  • Proactive approach and excitement to shape the delivery of immigration knowledge at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal partner to sales and client-facing teams, assessing eligibility, advising on strategy in real-time, and making go/no-go decisions on case intake.
  • Review daily visa assessments and provide clear, criterion-by-criterion verdicts with identified risks.
  • Compare and sequence visa options (O-1A/B, EB-1A/B, EB-2 NIW, H-1B, L-1, E-2, TN, consular processing) to determine the optimal client pathway.
  • Act as a real-time legal help desk for sales teams, unblocking deals and answering eligibility questions.
  • Take prospect consultations, including paid second opinions.
  • Identify red flags in case intake, such as status gaps, prior denials, or undisclosed facts.
  • Apply current law to live situations, tracking USCIS trends and policy changes, and translating them into actionable advice.
  • Partner with product, GTM, and operations teams to standardize and productize the assessment process.
  • Mine assessment data for patterns and insights to create guides, FAQs, lead magnets, decision tools, and thought leadership content.
  • Write and edit immigration guides, website copy, internal explainers, templates, and workflows.
  • Publish rapid 'news breakdowns' on regulatory changes and review legal accuracy and tone for the company blog.
  • Optionally write scripts for educational/marketing videos and appear in them.
  • Support the legal team on active casework and RFE responses at a reduced capacity.
  • Attend and present at in-person events for immigrant founders, researchers, and mobility leaders.
