About The Position

The Johnson & Johnson Immunology Internship Program offers a full-time, immersive learning experience within Immunology Therapeutic Area Research and Development. Interns contribute to meaningful projects, engage with leaders and colleagues across functions, and build practical skills through structured learning, mentorship, and exposure to the drug development process. The program is designed to foster professional growth while giving interns an opportunity to support innovative immunology research and clinical development. Designed to cultivate the next generation of talent, the program helps interns develop scientific, technical, and professional capabilities while exploring career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. The internship spans approximately three months, from May 17 through August 6, 2027. The position is located in Spring House, PA or from June 14 through September 10th, 2027, based at the La Jolla, CA campus for those on the quarter system. The Pediatric Development Team within Immunology is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative summer intern to support the development of innovative therapies for children and adolescents with immune-mediated diseases. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to pediatric drug development through meaningful, project-based experiences. The internship is designed to foster professional growth while developing future healthcare and pharmaceutical leaders.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an advanced clinical, health sciences, or life sciences degree program throughout the duration of the internship.
  • Candidates pursuing a PharmD, MD, DO, PA, NP, MPH, MS, or related advanced degree are preferred.
  • Must not be graduating before, during, or after the start or end of the internship program
  • Must be available for the entire duration of the internship program from 17 May 2027 through 06 Aug 2027
  • Undergraduate students with a minimum of four semesters at program start or graduate students are eligible
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 which is reflective of all college coursework
  • Students in good standing, working towards the completion of an undergraduate or graduate degrees
  • Demonstrated record of strong academic achievement.
  • Clinical research, biomedical research, or other relevant academic research experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Availability to work full time (40 h/w) for the entire internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical research principles.
  • Experience reviewing and interpreting scientific literature.
  • Interest in pediatric medicine, pediatric clinical drug development, gastroenterology, immunology, or pharmaceutical research.
  • Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting strategic pediatric drug development projects for innovative therapies in Immunology, including the evaluation of clinical and scientific evidence to inform pediatric development strategies.
  • Assisting with the review and interpretation of clinical, scientific, and safety data from pediatric clinical trials.
  • Supporting the preparation of regulatory, clinical, and scientific deliverables, including study materials, presentations, abstracts, and publications.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional partners across Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Clinical Pharmacology, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Biostatistics, and Safety.
  • Completing a primary research project and presenting project findings and key learnings to the Pediatric Development Team and Immunology TA.
