About The Position

UPMC McKeesport is hiring a regular, full-time Imaging Services Tech Assistant to support its Imaging Departments. The role primarily follows a daylight schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with Saturday responsibility typically once per month from 7:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Under the supervision of a registered technologist, the assistant performs a variety of technical procedures using independent judgment and a basic understanding of technology, anatomy, and physiology. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Clerical and computer experience.
Communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting clearance, with renewal.
Act 33 clearance, with renewal.
Act 34 clearance, with renewal.
Act 73 FBI clearance, with renewal.

Responsibilities

Transport patients to and from the unit when required.
Demonstrate proper placement of IV catheters and follow guidelines for GFR criteria.
Assist with invasive procedure tray set-up and courier specimens to the lab as needed.
Follow established MRI safety and radiation safety protocols.
Schedule and reschedule exams accurately in RIS as needed, and contact patients for additional scanning.
Assist technologists with patient care and workflow as instructed, and demonstrate knowledge of procedural processes.
Verify patient identity using at least two identifiers.
Prepare patients for exams and provide pre- and post-procedure education.
Document appropriate patient history in the electronic record.
Review physician orders and contact the physician's office if additional information is required.
