This role also escorts patients, families, and visitors as needed. The assistant utilizes radiology computer systems for requisitions, schedules, and patient information. Responsibilities include organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. The role involves greeting patients and visitors, answering phones, screening calls, scheduling appointments, and taking messages. The assistant acts as a liaison between physicians, radiologists, and technologists, and provides radiology reports and images upon request. They are responsible for filing, retrieving, and releasing health information records and films, compiling film jackets/discs, and completing required documentation. The position requires documenting information, communicating patient observations and needs to the healthcare team, and performing routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment. Additionally, the assistant may be involved in screening and documenting MRI implants and must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care.
