About The Position

Maintains imaging records of Everett Clinic patients. Under general supervision, responsible for Management of imaging requests from patients and external facilities. Includes burning images to CDs, faxing reports, loading of external images to PACS, pushing images electronically via PACS to approved external facilities, scanning reports and digitizing film. Provides accurate and timely image management, and assists the Radiology Department and technical staff as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Proven knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation for typing patient information
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain efficient workflow throughout Data Management areas of Radiology.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the public, adept at customer service
  • Demonstrated skills in general computer use, Bar Code Readers, Copy machines, Fax machines, Printers, Digitizers, CD Burners, Radiology Information Systems, and Electronic Imaging systems
  • Ability to speak clear and concise, read, understand and follow oral and written instruction

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of work experience in a clinic or hospital
  • Medical terminology experience
  • Experience working with an electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Experience working with radiology information systems
  • Proven understanding of multi-specialty modality anatomy (i.e. CT, US, MR, NM, Mammography, and plain films) recognizes anatomy and image orientation
  • Proven understanding of medical terminology as it relates to Radiology

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills imaging records requests for patients, external facilities, and HIM Legal desk
  • Prepares imaging records for patient or courier pick-up, outgoing mail, electronic transfer, and faxes reports as requested in accordance with our Release of Medical Information policy AD-127
  • Pushes and receives/uploads images electronically to/from approved external facilities via PACS
  • Prepares Release of Information form to accompany CD’s prepared for patient pick up
  • Enters Release into Epic for all patient and continuation of care images and/or report requests
  • Loads images from CD’s and digitizes analog film from external facilities to TEC patient record in PACS, returns or properly disposes of records as instructed
  • Enters prior mammography data into mammography reporting system
  • Maintains storage of pediatric films. Coordinates with PACS/RIS Specialists to request addendums upon upload of comparison images
  • Observes HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality. Sorts and delivers mail and faxes to appropriate people
  • Participates in professional development activities and attends meeting as required
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of patient image handling
  • Courteous and professional when responding to large volume of requests for assistance or service in an orderly and timely fashion
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information
  • Understands and maintains day to day workflow, communicates within the department, while remaining flexible and able to adapt to changing needs and priorities
  • Reports to work as scheduled and on time per clinic policy
  • Responsible for equipment troubleshooting and initiates service calls
