About The Position

The Image Library Representative plays an important role in supporting imaging operations by ensuring outside imaging studies are accurately digitized, uploaded, distributed, and maintained for clinical use. Within this environment, the Image Library Representative supports critical imaging workflows that enable timely access to diagnostic information for patient care teams. The Image Library Representative works with multiple imaging systems and stakeholders, while the Image Library Representative helps maintain the integrity, accessibility, and confidentiality of imaging records across UT MD Anderson. The ideal candidate for this role possesses education and experience that support medical imaging workflows, image management, and customer service in a healthcare environment. Candidates should be comfortable working with imaging technologies, handling confidential patient information, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting patient and provider needs. The typical work schedule is Monday - Friday / 9:30PM - 6AM. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years Relevant work experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Healthcare experience.
  • Certified Picture Archiving and Communication Systems Associate (CPAS) by the PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association.

Responsibilities

  • Upload and digitize digital and analog imaging media into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for interpretation, comparison, and storage
  • Access PACS storage and copy images to CD-ROMs, film, and other approved media formats
  • Utilize imaging software and modality-specific workflows to transfer images between media types
  • Evaluate and properly format all outside imaging studies for clinical use
  • Apply a general understanding of topographical anatomy when processing imaging studies
  • Validate studies and ensure proper distribution through Diagnostic Imaging information systems, including RIS and PACS
  • Coordinate mammography film hanging protocols to support radiologist evaluations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary care centers to support urgent and routine imaging study workflows
  • Facilitate delivery and purge processes for outside imaging studies in accordance with departmental policies
  • Assist patients with the release of imaging studies and signed clinical reports
  • Collaborate with UT MD Anderson's legal department to prepare and distribute imaging studies requested through legal channels or subpoenas
  • Greet and communicate effectively with patients, family members, faculty, and staff visiting the Release of Medical Information offices in the Main Hospital and ACB
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
