The Imaging Assistant acts as the department receptionist, handling telephone inquiries in a timely, courteous, and professional manner. This role accommodates medical staff and the public in making appointments for medical imaging procedures and assists patients in preparation for these procedures. The assistant is responsible for confirming insurance coverages and benefits for all patients and coordinating patient information with other hospital departments. They must be knowledgeable of order communications systems and remote charge entry systems. Maintaining competencies, licenses, certifications, and education requirements as outlined by local administration, Adventist Health, The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory agencies is crucial. The role also involves maintaining the mammography reporting system in conjunction with mammography technologists for regulatory compliance, and ensuring the orderliness and cleanliness of the assigned department area. This includes stocking and replenishing supplies. The Imaging Assistant obtains clarification on patient orders when necessary, secures signatures on required forms (obtaining verbal permission and noting it with two witnesses when needed), and performs miscellaneous clerical duties such as typing, filing, and correspondence. They review patient packets (order/RIS paperwork) and the daily log/appointment book for accuracy, sort and chart patient reports, and file them. The position also includes willingly performing other assigned duties and innovations.
