About The Position

The Imaging Aide - Transporter escorts or transports patients within hospital or other medical facility. This role involves determining patient identity, informing patients and families about their destination and mode of travel, and escorting incoming patients to designated areas. The aide assists patients with walking to prevent falls or transports non-ambulatory patients using a wheelchair. They also transport patients to designated areas within the facility, file and retrieve X-Ray folders, and practice universal safety precautions, radiation protection techniques, and magnetic field education. The position requires participation in quality assurance activities, continuing education, and promoting the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health. The role may involve floating to other departments and being placed on-call.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training.
• Obtain BLS within 60 days of hire
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

• Determines identity by two (2) identifiers such as patient name and date of birth.
• Informs patient and/or family members the patient’s destination, mode of travel, time, and other data, following written or oral instructions.
• Directs or escorts incoming patients from the admitting office or reception desk to the designated area.
• Assists patient in walking to prevent accidents from falling or transports non-ambulatory patient with wheelchair.
• Transports patient, alone or with assistance, in bed, wheeled cart, or wheelchair to designated areas within facility during patient stay.
• Files and/or retrieves X-Ray folders in file room.
• Practices universal safety precautions, radiation protection techniques and magnetic field education to minimize exposure to patient, self and staff.
• Performs and provides evidence of ongoing quality assurance activities and collaborates and participates in quality review with others to evaluate the quality of care, performance and patient satisfaction (HCAPPS Survey).
• Participates in and ensures continuing education activities as supported and value-added to the current position are continually completed to maintain competency and quality of patient care.
• Promotes mission, vision and values of Intermountain Health and abides by service behavior standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need.
• May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
