About The Position
This position requires an Imagery Scientist with expertise in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). The role involves understanding SAR collection, phenomenology, image formation, and exploitation products. The scientist will utilize tools like SARPy and Matlab SAR toolbox, and work with metrics such as RNIIRS, information theoretic-based image quality metrics, SAR imagery quality metrics, and sensor metadata. A key responsibility is exploiting SAR data to identify and locate Objects of Interest (OOI). The role also includes developing, testing, and evaluating new algorithms, processes, methodologies, and products using SAR imagery with programming languages like Python, MATLAB, and Google Earth Engine. Effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences regarding SAR availability and capabilities is essential. A deep understanding of remote sensing principles, imagery processing, and advanced exploitation methods is required.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a SAR expert.
- Understanding of SAR collection, phenomenology, image formation process, and exploitation products.
- Experience using SARPy and Matlab SAR toolbox.
- Experience in RNIIRS, information theoretic-based image quality metrics, SAR imagery quality metrics and sensor metadata (e.g., graze, squint, azimuth).
- Experience exploiting SAR to determine the occurrence and location of an OOI.
- Experience developing, testing, and evaluating new algorithms, processes, methodologies, and products using SAR imagery with tools like Python, MATLAB, and Google Earth Engine.
- Experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences on availability and capabilities of SAR.
- Deep understanding of the principles of remote sensing and imagery processing and advanced exploitation methods.
- TS/SCI REQUIRED
- Current CI polygraph is required immediately after starting (or already within scope)
