About The Position

Newport Mental Health (NMH) is seeking an experienced case manager to join their IICAPS team in the Children's Services Department. The IICAPS Case Manager is responsible for actively engaging and collaborating with clients to reduce barriers to achieving positive outcomes in critical areas of life. NMH is a progressive organization that uses a state-of-the-art person-centered recovery approach to help individuals recover from mental illness and substance use disorders, extending trauma-informed evidence-based services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. Their services include outreach, specialized programs, mental health services, school-based therapy, substance use therapy, community-based therapy, and outpatient clinics.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation to travel to facilities across the area.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and adaptable in dynamic work environments.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to apply critical thinking in client care situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Degree in Human Services field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in the Human Services field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in daily team meetings to review client visits, concerns, and coordinate care.
  • Attend meetings with clients to assist with developing recovery goals with plans to overcome potential obstacles.
  • Provide support with understanding medications and find solutions to challenges such as transportation to appointments, grocery shopping or communication with Social Security for benefits.
  • Communicate with client families and support members as part of the client’s recovery plan.
  • Ensure client housing needs are stable, including facilitating applications with Housing Authorities.
  • Participate in individual or group supervision for therapeutic and problem-solving techniques.
