As an IEP Coordinator you will play a critical role in supporting high-quality special education programming by overseeing the development, implementation, and compliance of student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). This role helps ensure that all special education practices align with ChanceLight, Ombudsman, agency, state, and federal requirements while promoting meaningful student outcomes. Serving as a key compliance and instructional support leader, the IEP Coordinator partners closely with SPED Case Managers, teachers, school leaders, families, care providers, and district personnel to strengthen IEP quality, support audit readiness, and promote consistent implementation of special education policies and procedures. This position also helps build positive relationships with stakeholders by representing the organization professionally and collaboratively.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or higher in education or a closely related field of study.
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining a valid AZ state teaching credential.
  • Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining an AZ state special education instruction credential.
  • Hold currently or have the ability to obtain a valid AZ state IVP clearance card.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain certification in company approved crisis management training.
  • Minimum 1 year prior relevant teaching experience, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.
  • Prior experience and/or highly knowledgeable in curriculum development, differentiation and instruction in a classroom setting.
  • Prior experience and/or knowledge in special education services and compliance, effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-based decision making, and working with students with individualized education plans (IEP's).
  • Highly skilled in working with children with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorders and/or other related disabilities.
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals and next steps.
  • Prior experience and/or highly proficient in reading, writing, analyzing and interpreting detailed reports and business correspondence.
  • Proven ability to manage complex and/or sensitive information, maintaining confidentiality and objectivity.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring the development, implementation, quality, and effectiveness of student IEPs and BIPs to ensure alignment with company, school, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensuring SPED Case Managers follow special education policies, procedures, timelines, documentation standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Establishing strong, professional relationships with parents, care providers, district personnel, and community stakeholders while promoting a positive organizational image.
  • Auditing IEP documentation, compliance checklists, special education processes, and case management practices to support quality assurance and state monitoring readiness.
  • Attending IEP meetings as needed to support compliance, goal review, service delivery alignment, required revisions, signatures, and completion of post-IEP activities.
  • Collaborating with SPED Case Managers, teachers, and school leadership to strengthen IEP development, transition planning, service implementation, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Supporting curriculum modification, differentiated instruction, and instructional planning to address diverse student needs, learning profiles, and academic goals.
  • Using instructional strategies, intervention resources, educational software, and specialized curriculum tools to support student engagement and progress.
  • Meeting with teachers and staff to interpret special education documentation requirements, support accurate student file maintenance, and reinforce confidentiality expectations.
  • Maintaining confidential student records, documentation systems, compliance files, and timely reporting practices in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinating with school-based SPED Case Managers to review incoming student IEPs and 504 Plans, assess student needs, and incorporate intake assessment information.
  • Facilitating the evaluation and reevaluation process by providing guidance, documentation support, and relevant information to SPED Case Managers.
  • Providing annual staff training on special education policies, procedures, compliance expectations, documentation requirements, and best practices.
  • Training SPED Case Managers on IEP development, special education database use, transition planning, compliance workflows, and data-based decision-making.
  • Staying current with research-based practices, legal updates, instructional resources, professional development opportunities, and emerging trends in special education.
  • Participating in assurance, accreditation, audit preparation, and performance improvement processes to support successful site outcomes.
  • Contributing as an active member of the site, regional, Ombudsman, and ChanceLight teams by supporting operational priorities and organizational initiatives.
