About The Position

This role encompasses two main functions: SPED Teacher - IEP & Assessment Specialist and Teacher - CCP Lab. As a Teacher - CCP Lab, under the supervision of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, you will teach students academic subjects, social skills, behavioral skills, and other educational areas. You will plan, develop, organize, implement, and assess a comprehensive educational program, assist in other school programs, and create a supportive learning environment. The goal is to encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. As a SPED Teacher - IEP & Assessment Specialist, you will be responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and assessment of Individual Education Programs (IEPs), as well as planning, developing, and coordinating special education services for exceptional needs students. This may involve travel within district boundaries, coordinating IEP meetings, managing IEP paperwork for compliance, overseeing Enrich reports, identifying, coordinating, and administering academic assessments, maintaining student special education records, collaborating with the Moderate Needs Interventionist, attending and facilitating IEP meetings, performing other related duties, facilitating manifestation determination meetings, and documenting health-related services for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program.

Requirements

  • Special Education Generalist License - Colorado Department of Education

Responsibilities

  • Utilize new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever changing and strategic environment.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures, maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school, and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • Utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on student's performance and development.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development preparing required reports on students and activities.
  • Serve as an integral part of their school and the school community, performing certain duties including but not limited to student support, counseling students with academic problems and supporting certain extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations, participating in department and school meetings, and parent meetings.
  • Coordinate and manage scheduling of all Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings including initials, reevaluations, annual reviews, special evaluations, amendments, transfer and matriculation meetings.
  • Responsible for all IEP related tasks and paperwork for compliance (except for progress monitoring and reporting).
  • Oversee building level Enrich reports to monitor compliance.
  • Identify, coordinate, schedule, administer appropriate academic assessments and communicate and summarize results.
  • Maintain student special education records.
  • Collaborate with Moderate Needs Interventionist in development of IEP.
  • Attend and facilitate IEP meetings to act as the IEP recorder/writer.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Facilitate manifestation determination meetings and complete manifestation determination paperwork.
  • Document health related services in designated Medicaid documentation system for the DCSD School Medicaid Reimbursement Program as assigned.
