About The Position

The Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 1 MSA (CDL Center). This is a full-time position with a salary of $32,000 annually plus a $3,500 supplement. The DDS is a progressive agency focused on providing secure driver and identity credentials with excellence and respect. As an Identity and Driver Credential Specialist, you will assist State of Georgia residents by issuing learner's permits, converting out-of-state licenses, awarding driver licenses, and issuing identity cards. The role requires working with and through others within established guidelines, interacting comfortably with a diverse population, and demonstrating patience and attention to detail. High-volume centers may involve dealing with challenging customer interactions and incidents. There are opportunities for career mobility within DDS, with potential promotion to Identity and Driver Credential Specialists 2 after 12 months of satisfactory employment, accompanied by a salary increase. Certified Commercial Identity and Driver Credential Specialists at Commercial Customer Service Centers receive a stipend. Major Service Area (MSA) Centers are defined as DDS Customer Service Centers with a high volume of transactions (minimum of 40,000 annually). Team members assigned to an MSA Center receive a $3,500 supplement, which may be lost under specific conditions such as transferring to a non-MSA Center.

Requirements

Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required.
A valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.
At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years.
At least one (1) year of Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years.
Comfortable working with computer and internet technology.
Successful completion of the CCKE (Certified Commercial Knowledge Examiner) Certification, a national certification, is required by all employees who issue driver’s licenses.
Employees who conduct CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) road tests must successfully complete the CDL Examiner Certification and the CCE (Certified Commercial Examiner) Certification.
Employees must have flexible work availability due to customer service centers having varied operational hours.
DDS employees may be required as a term and condition of employment, to assist in meeting the responsibilities of the Department.
In addition, they may be required to perform responsibilities that are not regularly assigned to them in order to continue the operations of the agency which includes assisting other centers.

Responsibilities

Working with citizens to ensure applications, records and documents are completed accurately.
Accompanying drivers in vehicles for commercial skills test and in both a traditional and virtual capacity for non-commercial skills tests, to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia’s driving laws.
Conducting driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations.
Operating visual testing equipment.
Accurately collecting payments via cash or credit cards.
