About The Position

This is a 36-hour night shift position for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) at a Level III Trauma Center. The unit is a 20-bed Medical/Surgical ICU (MICU) that cares for adult patients with a wide range of diagnoses including Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock. Attendings and Residents are present in the ICU 24 hours/day. Salem Hospital is a 400+ bed complex community facility. Floating to Medical/Surgical units is required, potentially with up to 4 or 5 patients. Telemetry competency is required. Day shift positions are rotating, while night shift does not rotate. The RN to Patient Ratio is 1:2 or 1:1 with high acuity in the ICU, and 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg areas. The charting system used is EPIC.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of continuous work experience in one location, preferably a MICU.
  • 2+ years of Adult ICU experience required.
  • Must be able to read Tele strips.
  • Telemetry competency required.
  • Active Massachusetts RN License.
  • AHA BLS & ACLS certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Floating required (mostly Medical/Surgical Units, could be up to 4 or 5 patients).

Responsibilities

  • Care for a wide range of adult patients with diagnoses such as Substance Abuse/Overdose, severe Psychiatric conditions, DKA, Sepsis, GI bleed, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Renal Failure, and Cardiogenic Shock.
  • Float to Medical/Surgical units as needed.
  • Monitor patients and manage high acuity cases.
