About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care to critically ill patients in a fast-paced environment. The role provides care in the ICU/CCU setting, including care for patients on ventilators and various infusions. The unit has 12 beds, with patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 depending on patient acuity. Common diagnoses include sepsis, CHF, COPD, and post-operative care in the CCU. The nurse may float between ICU, CCU, and potentially telemetry as needed. The position has 12-hour day shifts, 36 guaranteed hours per week, and requires working every other weekend. Holidays are rotated with permanent staff. The uniform is navy scrubs, and the electronic medical record is Meditech. Respiratory therapy and pharmacy support are available 24/7. Charge nurses have no patient assignment, and monitor technicians are available during high census. Floor-specific orientation consists of 2–3 shifts on the unit; orientation for telemetry and ER is available if floating is desired.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of ICU experience.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- NIHSS certification.
- Advanced EKG dysrhythmia course certification.
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients in the ICU/CCU setting.
- Monitor and interpret vital signs and patient conditions.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies as prescribed.
- Assist with procedures and provide support to physicians.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality care.
- Float between ICU, CCU, and potentially telemetry as needed.
- Participate in patient education and family support.
- Provide care for patients on ventilators and various infusions.
